The current Accomac facility, built in 1965 and expanded in 1984, is woefully inadequate. Expensive building repairs are overdue, including fixing roof leaks, upgrading heating and air conditioning systems, bringing electrical systems up to code, replacing the septic drain field, among many others.
The ESPL’s goal is to transform itself into a center for learning, history and community activities. The Regional Library orders, receives and processes books and materials, and distributes them to all four library locations. The Regional Library provides Nassawadox, Chincoteague, and Cape Charles libraries services their budgets cannot afford.
